Queen & Slim 3/5 Directed By Melina Matsoukas - I agree with someone’s take that the romantic scenes were the best scenes. I think with a topic like this it can be difficult to tell a film without it feeling completely contrived at times. A lot of the film just kind of felt nonsensical from the perspective of the protagonists. Even Holly and Kit in Badlands are not this ridiculous who the fuck stops to pet horses while on the run.
Rififi 5/5 Directed By Jules Dassin - This is the first film I watch by Dassin, I thought it was wonderful. The most quiet heist movie I had ever experienced as they should be. I think The Old Man and The Gun is a mostly quiet film as well.
(RW) Phantom Thread 4.5/5 Directed By Paul Thomas Anderson - I had tickets to go watch this at The Egyptian, but I bailed stayed home to watch it instead. I love it the score is wonderful, Alma and Woodcock are amazing. It is fun lol

Kanal 3.5/5 Directed By Andrzej Wajda - I thought it was really good, but nowhere near as good as what I thought Ashes and Diamonds was. I think those characters live much better on the screen. I like the shots in the tunnel in the end there I will steal those.

Uncut Gems 4.5/5 Directed By The Safdie Brothers - Yo, they did it! I have never really fucked with these guys. They did a good job! Adam Sandler is solid and I loved that ending. Julia Fox is a treasure.

A Hidden Life 4.5/5 Directed By Terrence Malick - El maestro of color images strikes again. I thought it was a bit sappy at times, but the point was driven home. I greatly enjoyed the idea this film came with.

In Fabric 3.5/5 Directed By Peter Strickland - I did not care for the second story and straight british drama is not for me. I like those dirty Andrea Arnold british films and the bar is set at Mike Leigh’s Secrets and Lies, which Marianne Jean-Baptiste is in for dramas.
(RW) Magnolia 5/5 Directed By Paul Thomas Anderson - I do not think it is his masterpiece I think his ego flourishes in this. He also has admitting to wishing he would have cut some more off I agree. There Will Be Blood is that film though.
